Himax's 40A ESC is part of the new generation of compact airplane ESCs...meaning that, taking lessons from the miniquad world, it is lighter-weight and more compact than old-school aero ESCs. BLHeli_S firmware gives this ESC wonderfully smooth and quiet start-up throttle response. It is also has no problem running smaller, high-RPM outrunner brushless motors. An impressive 6A switching BEC handles hungry servos. All this at a great price!
With reasonable cooling, Himax rates this ESC for a constant power of 600 watts with a 4S battery, and 900 watts on 6S!
Throttle range is adjustable with your RC handset. All other functions can be adjusted via the BLHeli Suite software (link below). Brake-On-Stop is disabled by default. This ESC can be connected to a PC for adjustment via either a Flight Controller passthrough, or with a dedicated throttle-to-USB dongle such as the Cobra USB Link Programmer, available by clicking here.
